Improve your English Vocabulary with a Christmas Song

We’re back with another blog post about English vocabulary. There are many traditions here in the United States. Our holidays reflect the diversity of our people. Today, we will learn some English vocabulary from one of our favorite Christmas songs. You know- the songs they start to play in stores and malls the day after Thanksgiving or in some places even as early as Halloween. So because reindeer are super cute, and because we are animal lovers, we will look at the lyrics of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” today and see what English words we can find to expand our English vocabulary.

Now let’s get into the Christmas spirit with Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen

Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen (all names of Santa’s reindeer

But do you recall (remember)

The most famous reindeer of all?

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Had a very shiny nose

And if you ever saw it

You would even say it glows

All of the other reindeer

Used to laugh and call him names (make fun of him by saying mean things to him)

They never let poor Rudolph

Join in (participate in) any reindeer games

Then one foggy Christmas Eve

Santa came to say

"Rudolph, with your nose so bright

Won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then how the reindeer loved him

As they shouted out with glee (happiness)

"Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

You'll go down in history" (be remembered as an important part of history)
